In an ideal world we would have solid wooden lists.
For two day events we have portable lists but these do require a van/trailer to move them.
We have a backup option. It means that we can only do duels: We can double rope.
What does this mean? It means putting some sort of boundary poles with two parallel ropes. This won’t stop fighters crashing through but is less of an issue with duels.
At a distance of about 1 metre from this boundary there should be another rope. This marks the safety area. No public should be inside this and even MACI members should limit their access to this area. We have managed this with a rope on the ground but to be effective it needs to be on posts.
Why do this?
1. It is safer.
2. It is the minimum for our insurance to be valid.
If there are reasons we cannot do this due to archaeology of the site that is something to establish in advance.
